Binance review — the deepest order book, and the products that sit one tap too close
Binance is the largest exchange by volume, and on the pairs a beginner actually trades that shows up as the tightest spreads and the least price impact per dollar. The same screen also puts futures, margin, Earn and launchpads one tap from spot, and none of them warn you that you are not ready. This review is the numbers, the screens we opened, and who should not be here.

Your first account, if you mostly trade spot on major pairs and want size to fill without moving the price.
You live in the EEA or the US, or you know you cannot walk past a 125x button without pressing it.
Product sprawl. The most dangerous products are the easiest to reach.
What are Binance’s fees and limits? (verified 4 Sep 2026)
Regular-tier figures — the ones that apply to a new account — taken from Binance’s own fee schedule and help pages on the date shown. VIP tiers are lower and irrelevant to a beginner. Everything here changes without notice, which is why the sources are listed and dated.

How much does a $10,000 round trip cost on Binance?
A $10,000 round trip on Binance costs $20 on spot whether you use market or limit orders, $10 on perpetuals with market orders and $4 on perpetuals with limit orders. Fee pages quote a percentage; your account pays dollars, twice — once to get in and once to get out. Take a $10,000 position, the size our lessons use throughout:
| $10,000 round trip on Binance | In | Out | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Perpetuals, market in and market out (taker + taker) | $5 | $5 | $10 |
| Perpetuals, limit in and limit out (maker + maker) | $2 | $2 | $4 |
| Spot, market in and market out | $10 | $10 | $20 |
| Spot, limit in and limit out | $10 | $10 | $20 |
Read the perpetuals rows against each other before you read them against other venues. The gap between market orders and limit orders on the same exchange is $6 per round trip; the gap between Binance and the dearest of the other two venues on this site for the same market-order trade is $1. How you place the order matters more than where. And both are small next to the spread and slippage the liquidity lesson measures — which is the number no fee page shows.

Forty such trades a month is $4,800 a year on market orders and $1,920 on limit orders. Put your own size and frequency into the fee calculator and it will show all three venues side by side.
The trading fee is one of five bills on a Binance trade. Binance fees explained puts the other four — the BNB discount, funding, withdrawal and the 1.25% liquidation clearance fee the fee page does not show — in dollars on the same $10,000 position. Moving coins off the venue is priced separately again: Binance withdrawal fees by network has the full USDT, BTC and USDC tables and the one choice on that form that cannot be undone. If you are weighing this venue against the US-listed default, Binance vs Coinbase Advanced sets the two fee pages side by side — ten public tiers against a sign-in wall — and says plainly which regions each one can serve. Against the other venue that serves the US, the UK and the EEA, Binance vs Kraken finds the two charge the identical 0.02%/0.05% on perpetuals and are eight times apart on spot.
What is Binance good at?
Liquidity is the one exchange feature you cannot see on a fee page and cannot avoid paying for. On a thin book, a $25,000 market order walks through several price levels and the average fill drifts away from the quote you clicked; on Binance’s BTC and ETH books the same order usually clears within one or two levels. Our slippage calculator reads Binance’s live book precisely because it is the deepest one we could find, and the numbers it returns are the reason this venue is first on our page.
Two more things earned it the slot. Demo Trading — the product that replaced the old Futures mock-trading testnet — now covers spot and both futures families on one screen, opens with nothing but a Binance account, and asks for no identity check, so the whole workflow can be rehearsed before a deposit (what it rehearses, and what it cannot). And the anti-phishing code — a short string you set once that then appears in every genuine Binance email and SMS — is the cheapest defence against the most common way accounts are lost, and almost nobody switches it on.
Fees are ordinary rather than remarkable: 0.10% either side on spot, 0.02% maker / 0.05% taker on USDⓈ-M futures, with 25% and 10% off respectively if you pay in BNB. That is not the cheapest published rate of the three venues on this site, and it does not need to be — on a $10,000 order the difference between the cheapest and dearest CEX fee is smaller than the spread you save on a deep book.
What are the downsides of using Binance?
The most expensive thing about Binance is not a fee — it is how easy the dangerous products are to reach. The strength is also the problem: Binance sells more things than any other venue we cover, and it puts all of them within reach of a first-week account: USDⓈ-M and COIN-M futures up to 125x, margin, options, Earn products that lock coins, launchpools, a copy-trading tab. None of those screens carries a warning that says you have not finished the spot curriculum yet. Our own leverage lesson shows that 100x sits inside ordinary hourly price noise; Binance will still let you choose 125.
The account is withdraw-only until identity verification is complete, including deposits. People routinely send funds first and discover this second. And once your personal details are confirmed they are locked — the FAQ says plainly that you will not be able to change them — so a typo in a name or date of birth becomes a support ticket, not an edit.
Availability is narrower than it looks from the marketing. Binance does not serve US persons and withdrew from the EEA on 1 July 2026; if you are in either place the button on this page will send you to a notice rather than a sign-up form, and that is deliberate.
What does opening a Binance account involve?
Identity verification is mandatory before you can deposit or trade, and an unverified account is set to withdraw-only. We read Binance’s public support pages for account verification, withdrawals and withdrawal security without logging in, and noted the exact labels. Three things are worth knowing before you touch the deposit button.
Withdrawal whitelist. Profile icon → Settings → Withdrawal → Enable beside Withdrawal Whitelist. Once it is on you can only withdraw to addresses already on the list, and any edit to the list suspends withdrawals for 24, 48 or 72 hours — you choose the delay. That is the point: a thief who gets into your account cannot add their own address and leave in the same session. It also means you cannot, so add your own cold-wallet address before you need it.
Network selection. The withdrawal form matches the network to the address you paste, and Binance’s own warning on that screen reads: do not select the cheapest fee option; select the one that is compatible with the external platform. The auto-match does not save you when two networks share an address format — an ERC20 and a BEP20 address both start with 0x and both look valid. Pick the network the receiving wallet supports, not the one with the smallest fee.
Anti-phishing code. Account → Security → Advanced Security → Enable beside Anti-Phishing Code. Six to eight characters, at least three of the four character types. From then on, any “Binance” message without your code is not from Binance. Binance also recommends two-factor authentication on the email account behind your exchange login, which is the recovery path an attacker actually wants.
Who should not use Binance?
Do not open Binance first if you have not yet placed twenty or more journaled spot trades somewhere with nothing at stake. The venue is not careless; it is complete, and completeness is a hazard for a person who does not yet know which half of the menu to ignore. Bybit’s demo account or Binance’s own Demo Trading — neither needs an ID check — are the places to spend that month.
Do not use it as your only account. Our exchange-selection lesson works through why two accounts beat one, and it is not close: a frozen withdrawal, a regional exit like the EEA one in July 2026, or a support ticket that takes a week is survivable when the second account already exists and is verified.
Can you use it where you live?
What an EEA Binance account holder should do now — the notices, the freeze risk and the licensed venues that serve you.
Not available to US persons; withdrew from the EEA on 1 July 2026. Availability and the products you can access differ by country and change; the referral button below checks your region and, where the venue cannot serve you, shows a notice instead of a sign-up form. That is not a bug. We would rather lose the click than send you somewhere you cannot withdraw from.
IF YOU HAVE READ THE ABOVE
Open the account, finish identity verification the same day, switch on two-factor authentication before the first deposit — and start in the demo or with an amount you can afford to lose entirely.
Referral link — we may be paid if you sign up through it. It does not change what is written above. Education only; most retail traders lose money.
How do you set up a Binance account safely?
The account is only as safe as its first ten minutes. In order:
- Open the account and complete verification — the step-by-step with the exact button names.
- Place your first spot order on Binance
- Security setup: 2FA, whitelist, anti-phishing code
- Read how to size an exchange like a position before deciding how much to leave on it.
How does Binance compare with OKX and Bybit?
Same numbers, side by side, with a verdict for each kind of reader:
- Binance vs OKX
- Binance vs Bybit
- DEX vs CEX — if you would rather not hand over custody at all
- All three centralised venues on one page · Exchange matcher — five questions, one pick
Which exchange did you open your first account with? One tap — it helps the next reader see what people actually chose, not what a ranking says.
Counts come from readers of this site. They are a picture of who reads here, not a measure of which venue is better.
FAQ
Is Binance safe to keep money on?
As safe as any centralised exchange, which means your balance is a claim on a company rather than coins in your own wallet. Binance publishes proof of reserves and offers a withdrawal whitelist and anti-phishing code that most users never enable. Enable both, keep only what you are actively trading on the exchange, and treat the rest as a separate decision.
What are Binance’s fees for a regular user?
0.10% maker and 0.10% taker on spot, 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker on USDⓈ-M futures. Paying fees in BNB takes 25% off spot and 10% off futures. Rates fall with volume tiers, and they change — the fee page inside your account is the only number that applies to you.
Can I use Binance in the EU or the US?
Not through the venue this page links to. Binance withdrew from the EEA on 1 July 2026 and does not serve US persons. Our referral link checks your region and shows a notice instead of a sign-up form where that applies. If you already hold an EEA account, here is what to do with it now.
Does Binance have a demo account?
Yes, and it is wider than it used to be. Binance Demo Trading covers spot and both USDⓈ-M and COIN-M futures at demo.binance.com; a Binance account is the only requirement, identity verification is not, and the virtual balance can be reset. Binance also says the demo may differ from live in chart data, order-book pricing and order execution — which is exactly where money leaks. Read what the demo rehearses and what it cannot before you treat a demo run as evidence.
Why is Binance first on this site if OKX has a lower spot maker fee?
Because on a $10,000 order the fee difference between OKX and Binance is $2, and the spread difference between a deep book and a thin one on a smaller pair can be more than that on a single fill. For a first account on major pairs, depth matters more than two basis points of fee. Once your size or your pairs change, so might the answer.
